Last year was a year for performing at Coffee Houses.
We discovered that this source of venue was a perfect fit for our music genre.
Our first performance for 2013 was at the FireEscape Coffeehouse in Chanute, when we opened for Stephanie Bettman and Luke Halpin.
Other coffee house performances included shows at Mead's Corner in Wichita;
Homer's Coffeehouse in Overland Park; and 2nd Street Coffee in Ozark, MO.
2013 also proved to be a year for Festivals, which began with Katy Days in Parsons and continued at Good Ol' Days in Fort Scott where we had three shows. We also performed at the Flint Hills Folklife Festival in Cottonwood Falls, and at Galesburg Days and Tecumseh Days later in the fall.
A highlight of our summer was playing at the Community Theatre in Pretty Prairie.
This theatre was built in the 1920's and continues to show old movies and host music events during the year.
We were sad to learn that just weeks after our performance, they suffered major tornado damage.
With September's arrival, the festivals really picked up, beginning with the Kansas State Fair.
We were honored to be chosen to play at two stages the first weekend of the fair, including Gottspark Gazebo and Lake Talbot.
That same weekend, we traveled to Claremore, OK to participate in a singing competition held at the Bluegrass and Chili Festival. We sang one of Maggie's original songs and won the grand prize of $500! We were very honored.
In November, we were scheduled for a Fine Arts Concert at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas.
We had a lovely time on our first road trip to Texas and also visited Waco Vintage Instruments to try some mandolins and guitars.
We ended our year with an acoustic evening at the Colonial Fox Theatre in Pittsburg,
and then a trip to Eudora to play at Cutter's Smokehouse the day after Thanksgiving.

2013 provided us with many chances to share our music. It was a time of learning new music, traveling to new places, and meeting many new faces. It was also a time for us to reach outside of our comfort zone, playing on sidewalks, for church events and family events --even inside a tepee!
We look forward to the new year with anticipation and excitement as we work to finish our second album--with all original music by Maggie. Stay tuned for news about our upcoming concerts.
