We had such a fun time last week at the opening day of Walnut Valley Festival.
We started the day off with the NewSong Showcase at Stage 2, sponsored by Still on the Hill. One of Maggie's songs won in the religious category and another was selected as an alternate in the love category.
Mischievous Swing |
This year's festival had a great line-up of performers. We managed to sit and listen to Stephanie Bettman and Luke Halpin, Socks in the Frying Pan, a band from Ireland, and Mischievous Swing--the guys who provided the instrumentals on our new CD. (Be sure to check out their music!)
Later that afternoon, we sang at Stage 11, a special stage for songwriters, where only original songs can be shared.
The day was full of mingling with other musicians we've met this past year, including Bob Colladay, who we first met at the Kansas Sampler. Bob has been a wonderful supporter of our music and offered to share his place on Stage 5 later that evening. What an honor!
The highlight of our day came when we performed on Stage 5. Bob sang one of his songs that he co-wrote with Roy McClure called "Waffle House Blues."
We finished the set by singing a few of our favorite "cover songs." Singing on Stage 5 was an amazing experience. Thanks to everyone who came out to hear our music. You were an awesome audience! We hope to return to Winfield next year!
